What a great class this has been. I haven't used
masks much, except in tutorials. I never quite understood how they
functioned or what the different settings mean. This weeks lesson went a
long way toward increasing my understanding of masks.
This first mask is just vector text on a patterned
background. After creating a mask from the text, I modified it. First I
made a selection out of the text and expanded that by 2, then I
added to the selection by using 3 custom brushes I had.
The "trick" of making a mask from a image
reduced to two colors was really cool. Here I took a picture of my bird,
Harley, reduced it to 2 colors, made a negative from it, added text and
