I want to thank Pat Jaffarian, Hannah's
Designs, for coming up with this idea and letting me post a tutorial for it here on my
website.
For this tutorial, you'll need PSP8, beta2 or higher. If
you wish to use my images, you can download them:
Butterfly tube,
Leaf base,
frame (Note, these are in
PSP8 format)
*Remember to save often as you work.
1. Open a new transparent image – 400 x 300.
2. In the approximate center of
the canvas, add one butterfly from the tube at a scale of 75%. Or
use your own tube, if you choose, just give yourself plenty of space at
the top and bottom of the canvas.

3. Choose Effects>Artistic
Effects>Balls and Bubbles and change your settings to these:
a. Shape – Check Single
Ball or Bubble. (image) Move the Bounding Box in the left Preview Pane and
center the butterfly within the box. You want the bubble to cover
the whole butterfly, but not much more. Note: The Bounding Box is
the red box with the dotted lines and 4 squares in the corners. You size
it my dragging the corners with your mouse, you can also move the whole
box.

b. Surface – Opacity =
47; Shininess =66; Gloss =35; Material =#908F1D (Click on the material
block and change the color settings the same as you would
foreground/background colors).

c.
Maps –
a.
Check Bump Map; Smoothness =35; Depth =12; Size =181 Do Not check
Fit Bump Map
b.
Check Environment Map; Opacity =41; Current Image Checked

d.
Illumination –
a.
Ambience - Maximum =56; Minimum =56
b.
Individual Light Properties - Lights =Light1 (right now, that’s all
that’s available in the beta); Color =#F62300; Highlight Size
= 53;Type = Bubble Light
4. Click "Ok" to apply these settings.
5. Choose Adjust > Sharpness > Clarify at a setting
of 2.

6. Add a new raster layer.
7. Add the leaf base tube at a scale of 50% and position.

8. Layers > Merge visible
9. Effects > 3D Effects >Drop Shadow with these settings –
Verticle =-4, Horizontal =4, Opacity =25, Blur =5, Color =#000000; Shadow
on new layer unchecked.

10. Crop to a size you like, and add
the picture frame.
That's it! I hope you enjoyed this
tutorial. If you have any questions,
email
me and I'll try and assist.
