The next task was to color a black and white picture of Mr. Bush. Since
everyone has seen the black and white, I'm just posting my two color
versions. In this version, I made him look a bit comical. For his hair,
I used a gradient overlay on top of the color I added and lowered the
opacity. I applied the same gradient to the whites of his eyes.
Likewise, I masked a portion of his face and applied a darker brown
overlay with lowered opacity to give him a sort of "beard shadow". I
also applied a hue layer to his coat to it get it a bit shiny. With the
second picture, on the right, I used traditional colors and didn't do
anything strange to poor GW. (Note: because these pictures were already
pretty small, I didn't do thumbnails. |

Here are my own pictures that I colored.
Both were taken in the early 60's by my father. The first is of me, the
second is of me, my brother, and my sister. On both pictures, I first
used the scratch and dust remover to clean up the pictures since they
were scanned in. Next I set the levels, then I sharpened them both a
bit. To get some of the color I was looking for, I added layers on top
of some of my color selection layers and either added complimentary
colors that turned the opacity down on or changed the blend on them to
hue or overlay. (both pictures had 10 or more layers). |
