I liked part of this week's lesson and hated part. I am NO artist, so the last bit of homework that required me to DRAW really sucked :-)

This is the picture of the dogs using the technique for dust and scratch removal. I like this technique and will definitely use it for photo modifications. Click on the picture for a larger image.

Here is a picture of one of our night dives. This is my husband shining a flashlight on a trumpet fish. A kinda neat picture, except that the water is filled with "backscatter" - this is when particles in the water reflect the light back. I used the dust and scratch filter to correct this. This is another picture - one of my many "throw aways" from the trip. This picture is bad for two reasons. It has backscatter and I took it from too far away, so it looks blue. However, it makes a good image for this lesson. (this was the biggest puffer I had ever seen, that's why I took the shot - it was about 3 ft long).

First, I used a levels layer and adjusted the color, adding back in red (the color you lose quickest underwater) and removing some of the green and blue. This photo was taken at a depth of around 70 ft. I then used the scratch and dust filter to take out the backscatter. Click on image for larger picture.
